Demystifying the process of preparing for and applying to the most competitive academic and creative university courses. Talks on the 'Stage to Success' offer practical advice and support:

  • Year 10 with ambitions? Help!
  • Demystifying Oxbridge applications - new format personal statements, admissions tests, interviews.
  • Home or away for uni? A cost/benefits analysis
  • What are Foundation courses?

Education Choices

How do you decide what to study? On this stage academics, current students and recent alumni explore subject choices with a deep dive into the value, joy and vocational uses of their subjects. Topics include:

  • Medicine or Life sciences?
  • Law, History, English - is Law really the vocational choice?
  • Two or three combined - why do a joint honours degrees?
  • What are HSPS / PPE / Anthropology?

Life-Changing Conversations

At Step Up’s Fast Track, students can:

  • Discuss course choices with university admission teams;
  • Find out about support programmes that address your needs;
  • With employers discuss the different pathways towards work;
  • Explore the affordability of student loans and living away from home;
  • Compare uni with the apprenticeship route.

Quiet Afternoon

From 13:30 to 15:30 we have a dedicated time for schools and parents bringing teenagers with additional needs.

The Expo remains open to mainstream Year 12 students, but the departure of the Year 10 school groups will create a calm atmosphere for this important group of students.

The afternoon talks on Friday include an addiitonal talk on support at university for students with additional needs.
